Jali had an ideal many years ago that an organisation could be established where people worked together for personal improvement through selfless service. She wanted to encourage people to think “What can I do for others” rather than just “What’s in it for me”. She wanted to show what could be accomplished by people working together towards one goal rather than for personal gains and agendas. She strives and encourages those people around her to be the best they can be and to put care into everything they do. Over the years people have been amazed at what has been achieved by this little organization. The people involved learning skills and putting them to good use, those skills including, business management, accounts management, people management, team building, report writing, submission writing, file management, policy and procedural writing, public relations, computer literacy, internet usage, webpage production, book-keeping, conflict resolution, horticulture, gardening, massage, therapies, brick-making, furniture making, design and decoration, sewing, dress-making, upholstering, cement rendering, animal care, car maintenance, tractor driving, tiling floors/ walls and outdoors, cooking, catering, use of major power tools, operating generators, drawing plans, landscaping, operating water pumps, painting houses inside and out, making bricks, hey we even built a house! Rose Mountain has participated in many projects as well, including service in the community; it enjoys a good working relationship with the PCYC and sends volunteers to the local nursing homes. Rose Mountain has participated in fundraising activities, establishing recognized charitable entities and non profit businesses, has provided financial and practical help to the poor in Australia and overseas in third world countries. Rose Mountain has taken on the responsibility of caring for the chronically, critical and terminally ill. It has arranged trips around Australia and overseas for people to expand their knowledge in various ways. It has also sponsored people and their projects to help change and improve their lives. Rose Mountain has also given anonymous gifts to people in need.
The unique part about this organization is that its foundation lays in personal improvement, everything else we do is just a by-product of that, the projects we get involved in are used as tools people can use to refine their own character and be the best they can be.
It is because of this foundation that there are no set directions really as to what our efforts and resources will be put to at any given time. Rather it is more that we lend a helping hand where needed if we are able. This has allowed us freedom and fluidity to change and expand as required. The organization is quite structured which is required to maintain the integrity of the Founder’s original vision.
